Can you believe we are 3 weeks into the New Year? I hope 2019 got off to a strong start for you. It did for me! On January 8th, I facilitated a live, in person Mastermind Day with several clients and colleagues. It was amazing!
Do you know what a Mastermind is? Forbes says: “A Mastermind group is designed to help you navigate through challenges using the collective intelligence of others. A group of smart people meet to tackle challenges and problems together. They lean on each other, give advice, share connections and do business with each other when appropriate. It’s very much peer-to-peer mentoring and if you are fortunate enough to join one, you will most likely see a marked change in yourself and your business.”
The LeaderThinking Mastermind Day was designed to help the women who attended get 2019 off to a powerful start. They day started with each woman introducing herself, including sharing a significant past accomplishment, her goals for 2019, and her theme word for the year. Every woman was asked to share her Top 3 goals and Top 3 challenges so the group could provide solution strategies and action steps.
One of the women, a successful business owner, was frustrated by the pressure to create a consistent social media marketing strategy. What the group masterminded for her was simple, counter-intuitive and revolutionary: “Give yourself permission to stop doing social media.” She was advised to maximize other methods for business development such as in person networking, public speaking and guest expert interviews, all of which are fun and effortless for her. The stress of creating a consistent social media strategy was an exhausting energy drain, robbing her of time doing what she loves and finds energizing. She said the group solution felt right and relieved her of the burden and unhappiness of that aspect of her business. (Shared with permission.)

I remain in awe of how transformative the power of a Mastermind can be. These women did not know each other when they entered the room. Yet, all left feeling deeply connected, empowered and ready to make the most of 2019.
