Have you ever had a dream so big, it scared you?

Or have you ever had something pop up in your mind that you immediately dismissed because ‘those kinds of amazing things only happen to those kinds of amazing people?‘ Yes, you nod? I have too.

There have been times in the past when I dismissed my deep inner thoughts and dreams of what I wanted to create for myself because I could not clearly see the how.

It was even worse when I shared my thoughts and dreams with others who dismissed them as crazy, senseless or impossible. It was devastating because I was seeking their excitement, encouragement, and support. Instead, I received feedback that left me feeling disillusioned, discouraged and judged.

Have you ever felt that way?

I learned a long time ago to stop seeking validation from anyone else for my dreams.

One of the most important things you can understand about the next level goals and dreams you have for your life is that they live inside you. They do not exist inside anyone else. Your dreams only exist within you.

So when you seek outside validation for your dreams and goals you are looking for others to believe, see and think about things that do not exist within them. They can’t see your mind and inner wisdom. They can’t know the fullness of your intellect, talent, and gifts. They can never understand the innermost deepest truths about who you really are. Only you know those things about you.

When I think of some of the greatest minds over the centuries, they knew they would accomplish things that had not been seen or done before. They knew so on a deep level within themselves. They had to overcome big obstacles and ignore naysayers. You, too, will have to overcome obstacles and ignore naysayers.

If you don’t have people in your inner circle who can celebrate and support the highest and biggest version of who you know you can be, don’t share your dreams with them or seek their approval and validation. It will only make you question yourself and allow doubt to keep you where you are.

Your next level dreams and goals is a major reason why I created the Women Lawyers Global Network. I wanted to build a safe community for women lawyers where your big goals and dreams can live among others who will celebrate and support you. No naysayers allowed!

I believe our own self-knowledge and inner wisdom is our biggest cheerleader and I firmly believe if you can dream it, you can do it!

Take care,

Lakeshia
